What is National Recruitment Agency?
National Recruitment Agency is a central agency for recruitment and is established by the Indian Government. It will conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for selection to non-gazetted posts in the central government and public sector banks.
The National Recruitment Agency will have representatives of:
- Ministry of Railways (India)
- Minister of Finance (India)/ Department of Financial Services
- Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
- Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and
- Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)
NRA Webinar in Guwahati
Guwahati: August 28, 2020: The youths of the north-eastern region (NER) of India are expected to get a good chance in securing government jobs after the setting up of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA). This opinion was expressed by the resource persons present in the webinar organized by Press Information Bureau, Guwahati on August 28. In his keynote address, SN Pradhan, Additional Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, stated that the goal of the webinar is to make the citizens aware about ‘NRA’ to ensure that they can take complete advantage of the initiative. He said that taking job opportunities closer to the job seekers is a progressive step and it will significantly improve the career progression of the youths of the north-eastern region. He added that officials and the media should work intently to make job seekers aware of its different provisions
Mr Manoj Tamuli, Placement and Training officer, Dibrugarh University, highlighted the problems confronted by the youths of the backward districts of the North East India. He stated that commuting for the youths in this region isn’t always easy and this very fact that the new approach will focus on setting up recruitment facilities in those regions, makes it a substantial development initiative. Social development professional Dr Arup Kalita stated that the India continues to be dealing with challenges in producing good job opportunities; and the NRA will assist the aspirants in getting better employment opportunities. He spoke in detail on how the NRA will be beneficial for college students from the far flung regions. He added that more than one recruitment examinations had been a burden on the applicants, so a common eligibility test will allow these candidates to appear once and apply to any recruitment agency which will be a boon to all of the applicants.
The NRA will be a game changer in taking the government job opportunities closer to the job seekers from the far flung regions of North East Zone, stated Ratul Baruah from MyGOV, Assam. He said that the approach to set up exam centres in all of the districts will significantly enhance access for the applicants located in such far flung regions. Abhishek Dayal, Director, PIB, Imphal stated that because of geographical boundaries in the NER, the scholars regularly confronted problems to seize the job opportunities. He stated that the NRA will assist the students of the vicinity to secure the careers they truely deserve because of their high levels of accomplishments.Pallab Chakrabarti, Deputy Director, PIB, Guwahati delivered the final comments and Hiramani Das, Field Exhibition Officer, Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati moderated the webinar.
